8jours is a collection based on pocket watches. A pocket watch with a hand-wound movement could be operated for several days without loss of accuracy, even with the technology of the time.
However, the initial model of “8jour” set the case diameter to 39 mm, and it was not easy to fit the mainspring for operating the watch for 8 days in one barrel. Furthermore, the size of 39 mm has been the standard size for manufacturing Eberhard watches since its founding in 1887, and it was also the standard size for manufacturing luxury watches in Switzerland, so the Maison wanted to avoid choosing to increase the case diameter. ..
