Based on the M4 Competition (RWD model), the “M4 CSL” has achieved a weight reduction of approximately 100kg and an output improvement of 40ps.
“CSL” is named from the initials of Competition, Sport and Lightweight, and recorded a lap time of 7 minutes 20 seconds 207, the fastest BMW production car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife (20.832 km). BMW is given the title of the fastest production model.
Uses lightweight and highly rigid CFRP parts
In order to reduce the weight by 100kg, the bonnet, trunk lid, diffuser, etc. are made of lightweight and highly rigid CFRP parts.
The M4 CSL is 100kg lighter than the M4 Competition. CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) is used for the bonnet and trunk lid. In addition, CFRP parts are also used for kidney grille, air inlets, door mirror caps, diffusers, etc.
Equipped with laser lights with yellow daylights and rear combination lamps with laser technology. The model batch placed on the trunk lid emphasizes that it is a special limited model with red accents on a black base.
40ps output increase due to improved boost pressure
The installed 3.0 straight 6 turbo engine achieves an output increase of 40ps by improving the boost pressure of the turbo.
The 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder twin-turbo gasoline engine installed in the M4 CSL delivers a maximum output of 405 kW (550 ps) and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. By increasing the boost pressure from 1.7bar to 2.1bar, the output has increased by 40ps compared to the base M4 Competition. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.7 seconds due to further weight reduction.
The chassis is based on the M4 Competition, with improved road-following performance, camber strength, and damper response. The number of ball joints has been increased by 4 to 14. Equipped with a special suspension, special stabilizer, and M carbon ceramic brakes as standard, it demonstrates the ultimate in driving performance, especially on the circuit.
Rear seat removed for weight reduction
A sporty cockpit reminiscent of a racing car. The rear seats have been removed for the purpose of weight reduction, and helmets can be stored in this space.
The interior has a design reminiscent of a racing car. Many equipment derived from motor sports such as “M Alcantara steering wheel” with center mark, “M carbon fiber trim”, exclusive CFRP center console, etc. are adopted.
The “M Carbon Full Bucket Seat” has been introduced to reduce the weight of the seat to the limit. This seat is also compatible with 6-point seat belts, considering its use in racing scenes. In addition, the headrest has been devised so that it does not get in the way even when using a helmet.
In order to reduce weight, the rear seat has been removed, and a space for storing a helmet etc. is provided instead.
