Automatic model with small movement
All of these watches are self-winding. In recent years, mechanical watches for women have become popular in the watch world, and Grand Seiko has also been one of the first to develop women’s mechanical models. It is equipped with the Cal.9S27, a small automatic movement that was born in 2019. This movement, which has the same specifications as the Cal.9S25, which was newly designed on the 20th anniversary of the Cal.9S, the flagship movement of Grand Seiko, has achieved a more compact size for women while maintaining the high performance unique to the 9S series.
This is also proof of the Manufacture’s unique technology, which does everything in-house, from the development of the movement. It is also a presence that has expanded the possibilities of women’s models at Grand Seiko.
Beautiful quartz model depicting the tradition of Japan
In addition to the mechanical models mentioned above, new products have also appeared from the easy-to-use quartz models. These two models are also fascinated by the rich coloring. The source of the image was the rich nature surrounding the Shinshu Toki Takumi Studio in Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture, where Seiko’s quartz model is produced.
The color of the dial and the delicate pattern of the wave pattern were inspired by the natural phenomenon of Lake Biwa, which freezes completely in the middle of winter. This beautiful design hides an ancient tradition that has repeatedly expanded and contracted due to temperature differences Japan, and has been passed down as a sacred ritual to predict the year by following the steps of the gods with the path of the rising ice.
