Italy’s Mondial is a prestigious team that played an important role in the 125 class during the early days of the World Championship Road Race, the ancestor of MotoGP. It has been sold domestically by FB Mondial Japan since 2018, but this is the first time it will be open to the public at the motorcycle show. Mondial was founded in 1948, shortly after World War II, and is a prestigious Italian champion who made an outstanding performance in the 125 and 250 classes of the world championship race. The company broke up in 1979, but revived brilliantly with the announcement of the HPS125 at the 2015 EICMA (Milan Show).
And in 2019, the sports classic Pagani will be added to the lineup, and a flat track will also appear. Both are full size and have a scale and power that you can’t think of as two types of mopeds. The price of a head-to-head competition with domestic sports such as CBR125R and GSX-R125 is also a big attraction. Also, for HPS and Pagani, the Japanese limited model “300” equipped with a 249cc engine in the same chassis as the 125 is also a must-see.
Scrambler-style neo-classical HPS
Hipsters on the side cover represent “connoisseurs” or “new lovers”, and as the name suggests, HPS wears a new style of retro and modern weaving. The exhibited vehicle is the HPS 300, but the 125 has almost the same specifications except for the engine.
The contrast between the classical headlights that look like jujube upside down and the φ40mm inverted fork is new. The front wheels are 18 inches and the rear wheels are 19 inches, and the rear view is modern.
The DOHC 4-valve water-cooled single-cylinder engine is 125 made by Aprilia and is compatible with Euro 5. The HPS300 has a car name of 300 but a displacement of 249cc, which is limited to Japan. This is made by ZONGSHEN in China, which has a remarkable breakthrough and is highly reliable, and is equipped with Euro 4 specifications. A short two-out silencer creates a retro atmosphere.
The handlebar is wide and flat. The HPS300 is equipped with a small round LCD meter, but the HPS125 uses a large 7-inch TFT display (which seems to be the same as FRAT TRACK).
The lower part of the front of the fuel tank extends to the vicinity of the fork, and the shape with the knee grip strongly squeezed is a mixture of nostalgia and newness. A seat with an unusual design that separates the seating surface of the tack roll. Of course tandem is possible.
The front brake is equipped with a 4-pot radial mount caliper and ABS. The HPS300 in the photo is a 280mm round disc, but the HPS125 is equipped with a wave disc. The rear brake is also equipped with a round 300 and a wave disc 125. Swing arm fenders and number mounts are popular in European cars.

“Pagani” bearing the name of a famous rider
The full cowl classic racer was named after the famous rider Nello Pagani, who won the first championship in the 125cc class of the Road Racing World Championship, which started in 1949 by driving Mondial. The engine and chassis of both 125 and 300 (Japanese limited model) are mostly shared with HPS, but they have been transformed into different categories by the design work of each place.
The headlight is the same as the HPS, but the image changes drastically by embedding it in the cowl. The rear is also different from HPS in the processing around the tail lamp.
At first glance, it looks like a classic full cowl, but it has an excellent design in which the upper cowl and center cowl are integrated with the front side of the tank with a tsuraichi. Mount the separate handle under the top bridge.
The fuel tank has different processing and graphics of the resin cover of the center, but it is amazing that it is common to all three cars, HPS, Pagani, and flat truck. The seat is also common to the basic body, and of course it can be tandem if you remove the easily removable single seat cover.

The side cover is transformed into a heat guard and bib, and two slender tapered silencers are on the left and right. The seat has the same shape as other models, but the colored stitching is squid. It is possible to tandem by removing the seat cowl. Although the gasoline tank has the same shape as HPS and Pagani, it looks completely different.

Full size enduro “SMX”
