From the German watch brand “NOMOS GLASHÜTTE”, a Japan limited edition model inspired by ukiyo-e prints, “Tangente Japan Blau” is now available.
At the beginning of the 18th century, the dye “Bero indigo” was discovered in Berlin, Germany. It is the blue that was loved by the leading ukiyo-e painters, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. It is named “Berlin Indigo” from the name of the place where it was discovered, and it is called “Belo Indigo” for short. This blue pigment, which came from as far away as Europe, met with ukiyo-e techniques and became a beautiful innovative color that gave breadth and depth to the sky and waves depicted in ukiyo-e.
This model is set with a milky white dial reminiscent of pale clouds floating in ukiyo-e, with beautiful vivid blue indexes that are vividly drawn in ukiyo-e, and a traditional German blue ironing needle.
