Japanese watch brand “Grand Seiko” opens “Phantom Japanese confectionery shop” for 10 days only

“Grand Seiko Wagashiya Toki” will open for 10 days only from today until October 16th in Meiji Jingumae/Annon Harajuku. With the theme of time such as “moment”, “one minute”, and “one day”, original Japanese sweets that gently capture the changing seasons are available.
Grand Seiko, a famous watch brand, will open a phantom Japanese confectionery shop for 10 days only. The theme is “Time”. Inspired by the brand philosophy “THE NATURE OF TIME”, which pursues the essence of time and expresses Japan’s unique aesthetic sense and spirituality inspired by nature and the change of seasons.
The creative director is Sakiko Hirano, who is widely active as a food essayist and food director. For the development of Japanese sweets, Sayoko Sugiyama of Okashimaru, who creates sweets with memorable moments, and Mizoguchi of Kashiya Kokonotsu, a reservation-only tea house that offers sweets and tea courses. Two confectionery writers from Miho. Art director and graphic designer Mina Tabei was in charge of the overall art direction, including the store and the packaging of the Japanese sweets.

This vivid purple confectionery is “Shunkan Awayuki to Yamabudo no Kanten” developed by Sayoko Sugiyama of “Okashimaru”. It is a delicate unbaked confection made of two layers: wild grape agar with a vivid flavor and noble purple color, and light snow, yogurt with cardamom and lemon verbena flavors. You can feel the lingering echoes of the ephemerality and beauty of a moment that disappears when you close your eyes.
“One Week Japanese Rose and Lemongrass Purupuru” 1 set (Japanese rose jelly, lemongrass jelly, Japanese rose and lemongrass two-layer jelly 3 types set) ¥2,500
“One Week Japanese Rose and Lemongrass Purupuru” developed by Miho Miho of “Kashiya Kokonotsu” is a jelly that uses pesticide-free Japanese roses that give off a peach-like aroma. The clear flavor of lemongrass from Ishigaki Island is close to it, creating a gorgeous flavor that seems to weave a fragrance. With a prayer that the most beautiful week will last forever, the petals and scent are sealed in a transparent jelly.
In addition, special sweets are also available on October 8th (Sat) and 9th (Sun). A special work “Eternal Tamba chestnut and mountain chestnut yokan and metalware” that combines Tamba chestnut and mountain chestnut yokan on a tableware created by metalwork artist Tomomi Nakamura, and a tea house “Kashiya Kokonotsu”. It is a set of “Gikou Aged Chestnut Monaka and Tea Set” which is a set of sweets, tea utensils and tea leaves so that you can experience the proposed sweets and tea at home.
