Matt Motorcycles is a new brand established in 2013 in Birmingham, England by Benny Thomas, who made a name for himself with vintage motorcycle customs. In the Japan market, which began sales in 2019, there are already models that are more than enough for both hands. The nostalgic retro style and the cool appearance that makes you feel the wind of the street are common to the lineup. A 250cc single-cylinder model is the main model, but a 125cc version is also available. It is a complete custom imported from overseas and features a reasonable price from the 700,000 yen range. The Benny’s Limited, which we will cover in this article, comes with a price tag of 766,700 yen.
In Japan, where there are many serious users, full custom is still “cut and stretched yakuza specifications” (excuse me!). But Matt Motorcycles is aiming for a solid business in small quantities with a British spice. Specifically, while making good use of the basic structure of “air-cooled single-cylinder + 5-speed MT” mounted on a simple steel tube frame, the steering wheel, tank, muffler, seat, wheels, headlamps, indicators (turn signals), and other parts are tastefully combined to release more and more novel models. In short, it’s like a select shop called Mat with a dedicated coordinator stationed there.
An innocent person like myself would be confronted with Matt’s lineup and say, “I can’t memorize the model names! I feel a sense of professional crisis, but the company’s main target, highly sensitive puns, should reach out when a motorcycle that is “scared” (a dead word) appears among the newcomers who are being rolled out one after another.
The Matt Benny’s Limited × Japan GT-SR 250 was unveiled on January 6, 2025. It is a special model limited to 20 units prepared exclusively for fans in Japan.

Matt Motorcycles works on custom machines with the motif of motorcycles from the 1960s ~ 1970s. The company is based in Birmingham, the birthplace of British motorcycles.

The Benny’s Limited is based on the GT-SR 250, which has a wild flavor. The front forks are equipped with loose boots, and the wide semi-block tires are 120/90-18 in the front and 130/80-18 in the rear.
