Swiss watch brand Louis Erard unveils a new version of the brand’s core line, the Artistic Craft Line. It will go on sale in Japan in April.
Let’s take a look at some of the hottest new works that have elevated watches to the realm of art.
The new model is highly artistic with parquet dials.
The newly created “Excellence Marqueterie Dial” is a highly artistic model that uses a parquet technique familiar to Japan for the dial.
Bastien Chevalier created the dial
The parquet dial was created by Swiss craftsman Bastien Chevalier.
More than 70 pieces of colored and precisely cut wood were assembled to create a three-dimensional motif reminiscent of a deceptive painting.
After completing his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, Chevalier studied parquet skills under the guidance of a Swiss cabinetmaker for six years. He is currently working as a parquet craftsman in Sainte-Croix.
He has contributed to Davidoff’s cigar box, luge music box, and Bianey Halter’s watch, as well as international awards.
His work, which is exhibited at trade fairs and art galleries, is increasing its fame day by day.
A watch that incorporates the features of the series and brand colors
The 42 mm stainless steel case, blue-baked fir wood-shaped hands and crown are common details of the series.
Through the back glass, tinted in Louis Erard blue, the decorated movement peeks out. The movement uses the self-winding SW261-1.
The strap can be easily replaced with a quick change.
The “Artistic Craft Line” combines Swiss luxury watches with rare craftsmanship.
The new model, which embodies Manuel Emsch, director of Louis Erard, advocates for “a truly valuable affordable watch”, is likely to attract the attention of many enthusiasts.
