Stationery is the best companion to liven up your trip

Freelance announcer, university lecturer, paper collector. After joining Fukuoka Broadcasting as an announcer, he became independent in 1995 and worked as a freelance announcer. In addition to teaching “Media Culture Theory” at a university, he is active in television and lectures. He is also known as a paper collector, and his 10th book, “Illustrated Book of Living: The Joy of Letters” (Shoeisha), was released in April.
Stationery is the purpose of my travels and an important travel companion for me. Stationery is an item that strongly expresses the culture of life, and national characteristics often appear overseas, so I always visit the local stationery store. And every time I travel, I always bring a set of 7 stationery: a notebook, a fountain pen, a ballpoint pen, masking tape, a glue, a stapler, and scissors.
It’s fun to choose which stationery to use each time, but lately I’ve been taking a notebook from “Traveling Rolburn,” which I was involved in as an advisor. There is a pocket page where you can put papers you encounter on your travels, and it is a type of notebook that can be increased or decreased, so it is perfect for recording your trip.
Stick your travel tickets and receipts in your notebook, and jot down the little things you might miss on your phone. For example, we may ask people we meet in the local area, such as those who work at the station shop, to write a message. Every time I travel, I create a notebook, and I remember how I felt at that time with the feel of turning the pages and the way I wrote it. It brings back memories of your trip when you look back at it.
And when I travel, I want to use my favorite fountain pen. That feeling of ink coming out smoothly and the elation of writing with your favorite fountain pen makes me spin good words. When I want to express the feelings I felt while traveling, I feel that a fountain pen is a good choice. I open a notebook in a nice café and write with a fountain pen. You can enjoy the extraordinary feeling of a scene from a movie, and it can also be a witty prop in a movie called travel.
Notebooks and fountain pens add color to my life. I think that analog stationery that moves your hands instead of digital will liven up your trip.
