On June 21, Jaguar Land Rover Japan announced the Range Rover SV Bespoke 1858 Edition and Range Rover SV Bespoke Balmoral Edition, which are bespoke special edition models limited to Japan, and began accepting orders from Jaguar Land Rover Japan’s authorized dealer network nationwide.
The sales volume and manufacturer’s suggested retail price are 48,500,000 yen for 4 units of the 1858 Edition, and 38,660,000 yen for 5 units of the Balmoral Edition (all including consumption tax).
The 1858 Edition is a long-wheelbase (LWB) and is named after the year of diplomatic relations established between the two countries, with the signing of the Anglo-Japanese Treaty of Amity and Commerce in 1858. Inspired by the Muromachi period ink painting, one of the oldest painting techniques in Japan, this model was designed in monotone both exterior and interior.
For the exterior color, we developed a bespoke light gray that is as close to white as possible in order to express the “blur” that is often used in ink painting, and the same color is also used for the aluminum wheel inserts. By adopting a slightly darker bespoke gray for the roof color, the whole thing is shaded so that it does not become monotonous.
The interior is also a special combination only available for the “1858 EDITION”, with cinder gray seats at the front and light cloud seats (cinder gray interior) at the rear.
The shoulder part of the seat is embroidered with an original design inspired by the pattern of Japan kimono, and combined with the trim finisher and shift control white, it is an exceptional interior space that combines luxury and purity at a high level.
The Balmoral Edition is a standard wheelbase (SWB) and the name of the car is derived from Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, owned by the British royal family.
The first four-door Range Rover sold in the 1980s also had an exterior color called Balmoral Green, which was reinterpreted in a modern style and developed a new color exclusive to this model, a brighter and more transparent bespoke green with a more luxurious texture.
The interior uses Ultrafabrics, which has a good texture and emits less CO2 than leather in the manufacturing process, and selects materials that are environmentally friendly while pursuing luxury. In addition, the satin white ceramic trim finisher, which cannot be selected on the base model “SV INTREPID”, has been combined to create a cleaner and brighter atmosphere.
THE TREAD PLATES ARE MARKED WITH THE WORDS “SV BESPOKE 1858 EDITION” AND “SV BESPOKE BALMORAL EDITION”, RESPECTIVELY, AS WELL AS “1 OF 4” (“1858 EDITION”) and “1 OF 5” (“BALMORAL EDITION”), which represent the limited production volume of this specification.
