Lotus has formed a partnership with the British luxury fountain pen brand Onoto. Using aluminum parts from Lotus F1 cars, the Lotus 75th Anniversary Pen will be released. Priced at 3,785 euros, reservations are currently available on Onoto’s official shopping site.
Onoto developed the world’s first fountain pen
The fountain pen brand “Onoto” developed by De La Rue, which prints banknotes and stamps in the UK, was established in 1905. In commemoration of Lotus’ 75th anniversary, a collaboration between Lotus and Onoto has been decided.
De La Rue, a British printing and paper company, developed fountain pens in the 1880s. The company’s fountain pen brand “Onoto” was launched in 1905 and has been very popular around the world ever since. Each Onoto writing instrument is handmade by a small team of skilled jewelers and writing instrument craftsmen. Celebrities such as Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, and Natsume Soseki are also known as Onoto’s customers.
On September 21, 2023, Lotus announced a unique collaboration with Onoto to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Both brands have a common history of pursuing the highest levels of craftsmanship.
Made with Lotus 72 aluminium parts
The Lotus 75th Anniversary Pen uses aluminum parts that were actually used in the Lotus 72. At the top was a personal monogram designed with Colin Chapman’s initials.
The first collaboration is the Lotus 75th Anniversary Pen, an aluminum pen taken from the Type 72, the most successful F1 car in Lotus history. It is decorated on the finial of the pen.
Yao Yingjia, Vice President of Group Lotus, commented on the collaboration with Onoto:
“Onoto and Lotus share a commitment to high quality and innovative design. Onoto’s pen is the epitome of British craftsmanship, characterized by attention to detail and visually appealing designs. We are delighted to enter into a partnership with Onoto and work with our design team. I am looking forward to having our valued customers use this fountain pen.”
