“SHIKKOKU” with even more profound black
One of Chopard’s representative collections is the sporty and chic Alpine Eagle. Born from the passion of three generations of men from the Scheufele family, the collection is a modern interpretation of St. Moritz, the first creation conceived by current co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele at the end of the 1970s.
Pure and neat in design, the Alpine Eagle is a powerful inspiration from nature, adding to the heritage that lives in the background of the collection. The Alpine Eagle features a round case with three-dimensional and stylish sidelines, a crown engraved with a compass rose motif, a bezel with eight functional screws, a textured dial in deep hues, super-luminova-coated indexes and a case designed to be integrated with a metal bracelet. The collection embodies the perfect elegance of the sophistication born from contemporary interpretations.
Alpine Eagle Japan Limited Edition “SHIKKOKU”
Chopard
From the Alpine Eagle, a Japan limited edition of 100 timepieces with an innovative monochrome dial appeared. This new piece features a simple-ness-enhancing SHIKKOKU dial, reflecting neat and Japan design codes, Zen aesthetics, and the collection’s identity, the exquisite balance and proportions.
Like the dial colours used in previous models, such as Aletsch Blue, Bernina Grey and Pitch Black, SHIKKOKU reflects inspiration from the natural world and evokes the glossy black of lacquer crafts created by Japan culture and its traditions. SHIKKOKU, which adds even more depth to its black color, is a symbol of nature, mystery and silence, and can be said to be the ultimate in simplicity and neatness that is similar to Zen aesthetics.
The textured dial features a radial pattern reminiscent of the Eagle’s iris, and the “tone-on-tone” black indexes and hands command the hours, minutes, and seconds display, showcasing an elegant monochrome design. In addition, the cool gray Super-LumiNova paint ensures visibility even in the dark. Unlike the large models of the previous Alpine Eagle, this model perfectly explores the aesthetics of symmetry and harmony, so the date opening has disappeared from the dial.
Rugby player Keita Inagaki
Appointed as an ambassador
Keita Inagaki and Carl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard, took the stage at a press conference held at the National Stadium.
Chopard
To celebrate the launch of this exclusive Japan limited edition model, Chopard welcomed Keita Inagaki, a rugby player aiming to become the top rugby player on the world stage, as the face of a new campaign. A master prop with outstanding field play and a global prop, he shares an insatiable spirit of inquiry, echoing the majesty, strength and elegance of the Alpine Eagle collection. Like an eagle soaring majestically in the sky of the Alps, it has a firm will and faces the challenge of the future.
Speaking at the unveiling at the National Stadium, Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele commented:
Chopard
“In fact, the country where the Alpine Eagle is most popular is Japan, and we want to express our gratitude to them, so we are pleased to announce the Japan limited edition of SHIKKOKU. As the title suggests, the dial is black, and of course the hands tell you the time, but they don’t put the subject there. It has a very bold and powerful design, and when you actually wear it on your wrist, you will feel its special feeling. Today, when I finally met him, I realized that there is no one in the world who suits this watch better than him.”
Inagaki also spoke about his appointment as an ambassador as follows.
Chopard
“I am truly honored to have this wonderful opportunity and I will continue to do my best to convey the charm of this watch to everyone. The Japan limited edition model that appeared this time is called “SHIKKOKU”, and black is my favorite color. This means that they stuck to black even deeper than black, and I was impressed by the soul of the craftsman. The design of the belt also brings out its strength, and it is a watch that you will want to wear forever.”

High degree of precision
Equipped with an automatic movement
The Chopard 01.15-C is installed in this model.
Chopard
A variation of the iconic Chopard 01.01-C automatic movement from the Alpine Eagle 41 series embodies the collection’s signature spirit of balance and proportions. The “Chopard 01.15-C” installed in this model has been redesigned. Therefore, the date display mechanism is eliminated, and the appearance of the dial is simplified by removing the display window that was between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock. In addition, this movement, which peeks out from the glass caseback with a thin color treatment, has been certified by COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Authority), which guarantees outstanding precision and quality.
Boasting a power reserve of 60 hours when fully wound, the movement is equipped with a stop-seconds function by Chopard watchmakers who always demand the highest level of precision, enabling precise time settings in seconds.
