Grand Seiko has created a unique design grammar, “Seiko Style,” in order to realize a world-class “brilliantly shining wristwatch.” The design, which mainly incorporates the aesthetic sense unique to Japanese people and is mainly made of a flat surface without distortion, which is polished by “Zaratsu polishing”, has been handed down to modern watches. The starting point is the “44GS” announced in 1967.
The historical masterpiece “44GS”, which is also the cornerstone of modern Grand Seiko design. The “Heritage Collection 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition” was introduced to commemorate the 55th anniversary of its birth.
The first thing that catches the eye is the dial. The warm, grayish pink stamped dial expresses the seasonal word “Sakura Kakushi” used in the Tohoku region, where “Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi” is located. Snow is piled up on the cherry blossoms, and it is inspired by the faint pinkish snow scene.
The vintage box-shaped windshield also matches the cherry-colored dial exquisitely, and has a warm design that makes you feel spring.
If you look closely at the dial, there is also a delicate stamped pattern.
● Adopts the smallest diameter 36.5mm case in the history of modern 44GS
The case that is perfect for the pale pink dial is 36.5 mm, which is the smallest diameter of the modern 44GS. The dial abbreviations and hands have been redesigned accordingly.
The small case, which is 11.6 mm thin, fits comfortably in your arm and can fit neatly into your cuffs even in a suit style. In the coming season when you wear light clothes, it will give you a refreshing and elegant impression at your wrist.
In addition, the letters “LIMITED EDITION” and the serial number are engraved on the back of the case. You can enjoy the special feeling unique to the limited model.
The movement is equipped with a hand-wound “caliber 9S64”. With a power reserve of about 72 hours, it keeps moving even if you take it off on weekends, so you don’t have to rush to wind the mainspring.
