Updated to the latest equipment as GP! Increased comfort
The 2025 model of the XSR900, which was announced ahead of time in Europe in November 2024, has finally been announced in Japan. This facelifted model is equipped with new equipment and electronic control systems that were previously used in the XSR900 GP. It has evolved into a sports model that pursues a casual ride.
The exterior is almost identical to the previous model, but the position of the steering wheel and the shape of the seat have been changed to meet the needs of users.
The handlebars have been changed to a slightly higher position than the previous model, providing a more comfortable riding position. The steps in the seats, which were provided to accentuate the racing image, have been relaxed, and the degree of freedom in the seating position has been improved.
The material inside the seat has also been reviewed to improve cushioning. According to the catalog value, the seat height has been increased by 5mm, but the density of urethane has been reduced by about 20% compared to the previous model along with the change in shape, and the suspension has been reset to be softer, ensuring the same footing as the previous model.
The suspension has been updated to the same equipment as the GP. Both the front and rear suspensions are fully adjustable, and the setting is softer than before to achieve a casual ride. The standard tires will be Bridgestone’s S23.
The cockpit area has also evolved greatly. The meter has been changed to a highly visible 5-inch color TFT display, and it can be linked to a smartphone with the dedicated app Y-Connect.
The meter bracket uses a new machined aluminum anodized aluminum color to improve the sense of luxury. A similar bracket is used for the tank cover.
The steering wheel uses the same clutch lever with an adjuster mechanism as the GP. A switch box has also been added, allowing users to select driving modes and set various electronic controls at hand.
In addition, a new function “YVSL (Yamaha Variable Speed Limiter)” has been added to the cruise control system that was previously installed. By setting the speed arbitrarily by the rider, the system automatically limits the engine output when the specified speed is about to be exceeded, preventing overspeeding.
In addition, there is a socket compatible with the USB Type-C terminal in the cover behind the headlight.
The steps are now equipped with rubber to improve grip performance and reduce vibration from the ground. At the same time, the shape of the shift pedal has been changed. The tapered tip makes it easier to operate the pedals.

XSR900 ABS Japan Limited Color
Limited-order model
Release date: Monday, April 14, 2025
Price: 1,353,000 yen (tax included)
Japan limited colors that revive the casual image are now available
The body color of the 2025 model is the same as the European model, and in addition to the two colors of the European model, “ceramic ivory” is available only in Japan.
The limited-edition color is based on a warm neutral ivory color, accented with the same bronze front fork as the YZF-R9 and brown seats. It is a fashionable color that has not been seen in the XSR so far.
Originally, the Kashima coat was applied to improve wear resistance and lubrication, but because the beautiful bronze coloring matches the car body, a coating is applied to the outer tube of the front fork in this model. The seats will also be specially developed to match the car body.
In addition, the tank cap is the same type as the YZF-R1, and only the limited color is black.
The new XSR900 will be priced at 1,320,000 yen including tax for the white and black versions, and 1,353,000 yen including tax for the limited-edition ivory color, both of which will go on sale on April 14, 2025.
The ivory is a limited-order model until September 30, 2025.
A custom concept model was also exhibited at the presentation.
