Osawa Shokai Co., Ltd. will release two new models limited to Japan for the iconic model “Tangent” of “NOMOS GLASHUTTE” in mid-March 2025
Since its introduction in 1992, it has been NOMOS’ iconic piece and has always been a bestseller. In 2025, NOMOS will launch the Tangente Japan Blau, a limited-edition Japan inspired by the traditional Japan art form of ukiyo-e.
Love the blue from Berlin
At the beginning of the 18th century, the dye “Bero indigo” was discovered in Berlin, Germany. It is the blue that was loved by the leading ukiyo-e painters, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. It is named “Berlin Indigo” from the name of the place where it was discovered, and it is called “Belo Indigo” for short. This blue pigment, which came from as far away as Europe, met with ukiyo-e techniques and became a beautiful innovative color that gave breadth and depth to the sky and waves depicted in ukiyo-e.
The new “Tangene Japan Blau” has a milky white dial reminiscent of pale clouds floating in ukiyo-e, indexed with a beautiful vivid blue color that is vividly depicted in ukiyo-e, and set with traditional German blue needles.
The blue expressed in ukiyo-e, which had a great influence on famous European painters later, has become a color that expresses the spirituality of people Japan us, such as samurai blue, which has taken root.
NOMOS watches are created by Berlina Blau, a Berlin-based design team based in Berlin, where Belo Ai was born. Tangene Japan Blau embodies the traditional beauty of Japan in tangent, which embodies NOMOS’ philosophy of simplicity.

“Tangente Japan Blau” is engraved with the letters “TANGENTE SONDERMODEL JAPAN” and serial number, which is a certificate of Japan exclusivity. Keeping precise time behind this special dial is the most produced and most reliable hand-wound in-house Alpha movement produced in Glashütte.
