EDOX, a Swiss luxury watch brand founded in 1884, has announced the Neptunian Automatic Japan Limited Edition, a Japan limited edition model featuring black mother-of-pearl on the dial. It will be released at authorized dealers nationwide and Edox online stores on March 7, 2024.

Edox, which has contributed to the development of waterproof watches by developing the world’s first patented waterproof mechanism, has added a Japan-only model to the “Neptunian Automatic” diver’s watch collection that pursues toughness and practicality.
The Neptunian Automatic is a diver’s watch that embodies the brand’s concept of “THE WATER CHAMPION” and is highly waterproof to 100 bar (1000 meters) thanks to a sturdy and robust case, screw-down crown, and a 3 mm thick sapphire crystal windshield.
The case and belt are made of rust-resistant and skin-friendly 316L stainless steel. The hairline finish with an elongated streak pattern and the mirror finish that brings a mirror-like luster are combined to create a calm and luxurious feeling. The auto helium escape valve mounted at 9 o’clock automatically discharges helium gas that enters the watch during saturation diving, preventing the watch from rupturing due to internal and external pressure differences and providing a visual experience of the appeal of a diver’s watch.
The bezel features high-tech ceramic inserts on the surface and wiggles on the sides for improved operability. Considering the risk of misoperation during diving, it was designed to prevent unidirectional rotation.
The dial, which is a feature of the Japan limited model, is made by processing the inside of a black butterfly shell shell into thin slices. Based on shades of black, it is characterized by a unique luster that shines in iridescent colors depending on the amount of light, and the fantastic nuance expressed by the black butterfly shell adds a stylish impression to the simple three-needle design. The luminescent paint applied to the hands and indexes is made of Super-LumiNova, the highest rank “Grade X1”, which boasts up to 1.6 times the amount of light emitted by the standard grade, and is highly visible at night and underwater.
In addition, since each shell is a different natural material, one of the attractions is that it can be proud as a one-of-a-kind watch with a unique pattern. The price is 308,000 yen.
