Audemars Piguet is never afraid to push the boundaries of collaboration. In the 2000s, the company introduced the groundbreaking Royal Oak with Jay-Z, and in the 10s, it hired LeBron James to create its signature watch. Whether it’s partnering with Marvel on high-end watches featuring Black Panther or Spider-Man, or having 1017 ALYX 9SM designer Matthew Williams give a minimalistic twist on their iconic designs, the team at Audemars Piguet has been continually experimenting with inventive experiments.
The brand has teamed up with Travis Scott, who was named “Men of the Year (MOTY)” by GQ this year. In collaboration with Scott’s streetwear brand and music label Cactus Jack, the most unique Royal Oak was born. There is no doubt that this new watch will further enhance Audemars Piguet’s presence in pop culture.
“Chocolate-colored Audemars Piguet”
Scott has worn one of Audemars Piguet’s most daring royal oak designs. The time has finally come for him to put his ideas into an original watch. The new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openwork Cactus Jack, which Scott simply calls “The Chocolate AP” (chocolate-colored Audemars Piguet), is packed with all sorts of fascinating features. The self-winding perpetual calendar, which accurately displays the day of the week, date, and month, does not require manual correction until 2100 AD.
There is also an elaborate moon phase design, and you can see the operation of the machine from the open-work dial. The case is made of brown ceramic, worthy of the nickname “The Chocolate AP”, and is the first material for Royal Oak. The selling price is 201,000 US dollars (about 29.77 million yen).
