“UNDONE” is known as a pioneering brand that ignited the popularity of customized watches. However, “The Wave Forward” is not a custom-made model. Produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Andan’s establishment, this is a special collaboration model limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.
For the anniversary model commemorating the 10th anniversary, Andern used the motif of Katsushika Hokusai’s masterpiece “Kanagawa Oki Namura”, a ukiyo-e artist who continues to be appreciated and loved not only in Japan but also around the world. Produced in collaboration with the Hokusai Museum in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture, where Hokusai was fascinated in his later years, the entire watch, including the dial and movement, is finished in a design inspired by the “Kanagawa Oki Namura”, one of the 36 views of Futaka.

The base model is the “Aqua Deep”, a diver’s watch that boasts a water resistance of 500 meters. It is a model that has a lot to talk about in the first place, such as a professional 500m water resistance and a multifaceted and solid case, but the first thing to pay attention to in the limited edition model is the dial.
The dial is inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s “Kanagawa Oki Namura”, and the traditional Japan pattern of Seigaiha is embossed with the blue sea wave, and the Hokusaikan logo is placed in the upper center. By finishing it in a gradation that darkens the color toward the outer circumference, the three-dimensional decoration of the blue sea wave (seigaiha) is emphasized.
By the way, the gradient design with a darkened outer periphery also has the effect of increasing the contrast between the indexes and the dial, and the excellent visibility is also a good impression.
The case is made of lightweight and allergen-resistant titanium. By applying blue plating, it is finished to express the power and beauty of the large waves that Hokusai’s “Kanagawa Oki Namura” feels.
The back pig of the case has a see-through back, and you can enjoy the movement and mechanical shape of the Seiko automatic movement “NH35A” that is installed. The special design unique to the limited model, such as the rotor designed with the large wave of “Kanagawa Oki Namura”, is attractive.
It cannot be overlooked that the quality has been improved so far in terms of both design and function, while achieving an affordable price of less than 100,000 yen. While adopting special materials, Andern’s limited edition model is full of design, specs, and attention to detail in all directions. This is the one that watch lovers want to get their hands on.
Pre-registration for this model will be accepted from September 26 to October 14, 2024. Pre-registrants will receive a limited number of Hokusaikan original handkerchiefs (one at random from three types). The product will go on sale on October 24, 2024, and will be available online and at Hokusaikan in Obuse Town, Nagano Prefecture.
The package sleeve features a design depicting a large wave and three ships with Mt. Fuji in the background, giving it a luxurious finish.
