Breitling has released the “Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43”, which is a limited edition model in Japan. Following the traditional design of the Navitimer, the lineup includes a stainless steel bracelet model (AB01381G1B1A1) and an alligator leather strap model (AB01381G1B1P1).
The dial uses the popular black mother-of-pearl. It has a texture unique to natural materials, and Breitling says, “Only this material can produce a mysterious and deep sparkle, like clouds in the night sky that float faintly in the moonlight.” The subdials are also unified in black, and the rotating slide rule, which can be said to be a symbol of the navigation timer, and the display with a lot of information are tightened.
A 30-minute counter is placed at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter is placed at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds is placed at 9 o’clock. The bezel is equipped with a rotating slide rule that rotates in both directions, and as mentioned above, these are the traditional layout of the Navitimer.
This “all-black” dial is paired with gold hands and indexes. Gold accounts for a small proportion of the entire phase, creating a delicate brilliance and an elegant contrast. While ensuring that it is easy to read as an instrument, it also impresses as a classic pilot’s watch.
The stainless steel bracelet model is sporty, and the alligator leather strap model has a classic feel. It can also be said that it has different characters depending on the strap.
The movement is equipped with the in-house automatic mechanical chronograph “Breitling Calibre 01”. Despite being a chronograph, it has a long power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The chronograph is equipped with a 1/4 second measurement, a 30-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter. It also meets the performance standards as a COSC-certified chronometer.
