What if the smartphone, which you touch every day, is art that moves your heart? With the launch of the Japan-exclusive Google Pixel 10th anniversary model “Isai Blue,” we set out on an adult journey to Iwate, the base of our co-creation partner Heralbony.
A one-of-a-kind blue that Google also resonated with.
The Google Pixel 10a Isai Blue was released on May 20. This Japan-exclusive model is the first in the series to feature a Japanese-derived color name. It was born through co-creation with HERALBONY, a creative company that creates new cultures alongside unique artists. The vivid blue theme color is the theme of Autism Awareness Day, expressing a wish for a society where diverse “individuals” are affirmed as they are.
What’s surprising is that this is not just a color variation of the device itself. Not only dedicated stickers and packaging, but also wallpapers and app icons, the artists’ art deeply breathes life. In fact, this is an unusual project where the enthusiasm of the Japanese team was specially approved. A dedicated design was developed that highlights the artist’s brushwork and colors while also pursuing readability. This is a device that gently harmonizes technology and art—where “smartphones adapt to people, not people adapt to their smartphones,” expanding our potential and feeling our warmth.
A place where human potential blossoms. Refine your sensibility at Hanamaki’s ‘Runbinii Museum’
One of the bases where the artists featured in the “Google Pixel 10a Isai Blue” are active is the Runbinii Museum of Art in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. This is a place where people who were once grouped together as ‘disabilities’ exist as ‘themselves,’ and their hidden desire to ‘give it a try’ naturally blossoms through art.
In the studio’s studio, artists sincerely and freely engage in their creative work. Their works are highly regarded both domestically and internationally as “expressions that cannot be reached by calculation,” possessing overwhelming power as “excellent art” that transcends the mere framework of support.
