[Bvlgari Japan Co., Ltd.]
Hajime Sorayama, a great artist in the Japanese art world, transcends borders and frameworks to express a sensual world full of metallic brilliance. Bvlgari recently released a timepiece featuring the luster of aluminum, which expresses the captivating world of Mr. Sorayama, who is edgy and poetic and continues to fascinate people.
The “Bvlgari Aluminum Hajime Sorayama Limited Edition” is a timepiece that embodies the imagination and talent of the hyper-realist artist Hajime Sorayama. Projecting both the past and the future, his work reflects a fascination with the classicism of the 1930s and 1940s, as well as significant mechanical advances in the fields of aeronautics and automobiles.
“Bvlgari Aluminum Hajime Sorayama Limited Edition” incorporates metal surface processing and detail design often seen in the car and airplane fields of the 1930s and 1940s. Propeller-shaped hour markers and hands coated with Super-LumiNova(R) are placed on the silver-tone dial, where multiple circular swirls create beautiful layers of light. The number 2, which is the lucky number for Mr. Sorayama, is placed in the bar index. This limited edition with aluminum case and rubber bezel has a diameter of 40 mm. It has 100m waterproof function. The caseback and crown with the SORAYAMA logo are made of reinforced black titanium. It is set on a rubber strap with a combination of aluminum links and pin buckles, one of the signatures of “Bvlgari Aluminum”. The movement is self-winding with a power reserve of 42 hours.
Mr. Sorayama’s style gives dynamism and sensuality to metal. From airplanes to pin-ups, his endless exploration of beauty delves into the fascinating world of the 1930s and 40s. Mr. Sorayama commented as follows.
“When I heard about the collaboration with Bvlgari, I had three design directions. The finishing motif is applied, and the index number is only 2. And my SORAYAMA logo.I was born on February 22, 1947, so 2 is my lucky number.Other mechanical parts are the road. I can’t go wrong if I leave it to the professionals, so I entrusted it to Fabrizio Bonamassa (Executive Director of Bvlgari Watch Product Creation), who boasts of being a fan of mine.I feel the eros of metal, glitter, and curvaceousness. I would be happy if someone could take a look at it and fetishize it.”
“Bvlgari Aluminum” has been an unconventional approach for two generations. In 1998, it appeared with a sporty and chic design based on black and white graphics and an innovative combination of aluminum and rubber materials, and in 2020 it will incorporate a mechanical self-winding movement. A timepiece that perfectly combines the charm of timeless Italian design with mechanical excellence. That is “Bvlgari Aluminum”.
The “Bvlgari Aluminum Hajime Sorayama Limited Edition”, which reflects both the past and the present, is a timepiece with dignity and innovation. Symbolizing the golden age of aviation and the automotive industry, its dial convinces us to move towards new ideals.
