Cartier’s Tank Française, which underwent a bold renewal in January last year, has unveiled a Japan-limited edition model this year, which marks the 50th anniversary of Cartier’s opening of its boutique in Japan. The original model was born in 1996 and has inherited the timeless French style to this day.
The distinctive dial of this work looks like a single piece of embossed paper. The minimalist and monochrome design is inspired by the culture of “respecting simplicity” that exists in the Japan tradition. Blending into the dial, which shows various expressions depending on the amount of light, are simple yet strong silver indexes. Since it has a sense of unity with the dial, it seems to expand radially with a Mr./Ms. finish, like the normal model, and visually gives a sense of depth, but it is interesting that it is expressed almost at a height close to two dimensions.
The crown is set with moonstone, rhodium-coated hands, and a satin-finished bracelet in a soft grey one-tone. It should also be noted that the bracelet, which is fully integrated with the case, which is a characteristic of “Tank Française”, draws a distinctive silhouette and combines the comfort of ergonomic wearing with an aesthetic presence.
