On May 8, 2025, BMW Japan announced that it will introduce the flagship BMW X7 SUV in a limited edition version of the BLACK-α Japan SUV, with a total of 100 units. Delivery is scheduled for June of the same year.

For the BMW X7 Black Alpha to be introduced this time, the exterior color of the “Frozen Black Metallic” of “BMW Individual Special Paint” is selected as the exterior color, which is a matte specification and a powerful jet black that further eliminates the gloss from the black that absorbs light wavelengths. This special badge uses a metal coloring technique cultivated in Toyama and Takaoka, in which each badge is laser engraved one by one and then applied to the base part that comes out on the surface with a color tone close to pure silver.

A door projector that illuminates the driver’s and passenger’s feet at night, with the motif of “α” drawn with a single stroke, is also said to be exclusive equipment for the model.

The lineup consists of the X7 xDrive40d Black Alpha, which combines a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel turbo with a 48V mild hybrid system with a maximum system output of 352 PS and a maximum system torque of 720 Nm, and the X7 M60i, which combines a 4.4-liter V8 gasoline turbo with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, with 530 PS and 750 Nm. 90 units of the former will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at authorized dealers, and 9 units of the latter will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis on a dedicated website. The remaining 100 units will be the X7 M60i xDrive Black Alpha, which will be presented to the winner of the BMW Japan Golf Tour Championship Moriville Cup, which will be held at Shishido Hills Country Club from June 5 to June 8, 2025, with BMW as the title sponsor.
