When it comes to the price range of several million yen among high-end mechanical watches, what attracts people is the beauty of craftsmanship. The most obvious part of this is the machine itself, which is commonly called a movement and is housed in a case. And the more expensive this is, the more distinctive and beautiful it becomes.
Moritz Grossmann’s Central Seconds Japan Limited featured here is also a German luxury watch that sells such a crafty movement. The original movement, which sticks to the classic design of the 19th century and manufactures more than 90% of the parts in-house, is highly complete and truly beautiful.
The material used in the main plate of this movement is German silver, also known as Western silver, which gives it a unique flavor, gradually turning golden yellow over time.
Moreover, the balance receiver and the receiver of the Gangi car on the left side of the photo above are hand-engraved with a flower pattern that is very delicate but firmly and deeply carved. And the wheel called a balance wheel attached to the tip always rotates and reciprocates 2.5 times (5 vibrations) per second.
This can be seen from a glass-walled back pig called a see-through back, just like a photo. Therefore, just looking at this makes you feel relaxed and luxurious. This is the main attraction of high-end mechanical watches.
By the way, this Central Second Japan Limited is actually quite rare, limited to 3 pieces. The base model is a luxury dress watch using large full Arabia. It is interesting that the entire case is made of matte stainless steel with satin brush, and the dial is also unified in matte black, giving it a casually military-style neat face.
Limited to this Japan with a twist. It’s quite expensive, in the mid-4 million yen range, but if you can afford it, it’s worth considering.
