From the art piece collection of the luxury watch brand “Credor” developed by SEIKO, a limited model in collaboration with “Kitamura Kobo” has appeared. It will be released on July 22, 2022 (Friday).
Credor x Kitamura Kobo, the ultimate dress watch with lacquer dial
“Kitamura Kobo” was founded by Tatsuo Kitamura in 1985. It is a lacquering workshop that is highly evaluated both in Japan and overseas for its fine and delicate lacquering technique and outstanding lacquering works that incorporate elements of Eastern and Western art as well as Japan.
“Zhu lacquer” dial that changes over time
Under the theme of “SHU”, this collaboration combines a beautiful dial with a unique vermilion texture that can only be produced in lacquer and a delicate and gorgeous ornament with the finest domestic dress watch. It has both the beauty of an art piece and the performance of a luxury wristwatch at a high level.
The dial of “Shurushi”, which changes to a gorgeous color over time, is decorated with gold lacquer work (* 1) that gradually spreads from the center. Very small thin plate parts of gold and platinum are arranged as densely as possible using a technique called “Kirigane”. By manually pasting it on the upper surface of the lacquer one by one to create a convex, it expresses the powerful and explosive energy like a solar flare.
(* 1) A typical decoration technique of lacquering crafts that fixes pictures and patterns drawn with lacquer on the surface using metal powder.
18K yellow gold case x reddish crocodile strap
The case that houses this special dial is made of 18K yellow gold, which is suitable for the name of Credor, which means “golden crest” in French. The strap is fitted with a reddish black crocodile that accentuates the vermilion color of the dial.
Equipped with ultra-thin mechanical movement “caliber 6870”
The movement, which is the heart of the watch, is equipped with the ultra-thin mechanical movement “Calibre 6870”, which was developed for the finest domestic dress watches and has a thickness of only 1.98 mm. It is a small-scale movement that is assembled at “Shizukuishi Luxury Watch Studio”, one of Japan’s leading workshops specializing in high-end mechanical watches.
