MITA SNEAKERS, a sneaker shop in Ueno, Tokyo, will release the “Gellite Mugen” (25,300 yen), a sneaker in collaboration with ASICS SPORTSTYLE. Lottery sales have already started, and will be available at Mitas Sneakers, Dover Street Market Ginza, and ASICS Sports Style DTC from August 8th, and will be available at the official Mitas Sneakers online store from August 12th.
This collaboration was realized to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the iconic “Gel Light 3” of the “ASICS Sports Style” as a limited edition model in Japan. Rather than a design that combines the upper and sole, the overlay incorporates the characteristic “split tongue” structure of the “Gel Light 3” while tracing the “Gel Light 5”. In addition, the “Toriko” coloring, which is familiar from previous collaborations, is adopted. This is modeled after the iconic color scheme of the “Mexican Line” from the era of the “ONITSUKA TIGER” era, the predecessor of “ASICS”, and contains the two meanings of the tricolor flag “tricolor” and the Japanese word “to be captivated”.
