Jaguar Land Rover Japan has announced that the RANGE ROVER SV will be the “RANGE ROVER SV BESPOKE 1858 EDITION” and the “RANGE ROVER SV BESPOKE BALMORAL” as special editions of the “RANGE ROVER SV” limited to Japan. EDITION (Balmoral Edition)” is now available for order from June 20, 2024 (Thursday) at Jaguar Land Rover Japan’s authorized dealer network nationwide.
The 1858 Edition expresses the connection between Japan culture and Britain
The RANGE ROVER SV BESPOKE 1858 EDITION was announced as a limited edition of four units developed over a period of about one year as a limited edition model exclusively for Japan with interior and exterior features that are said to “express the connection between Japan culture and the UK”.
The model name “1858 Edition” is named after the year 1858, when the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between Japan and the United Kingdom was signed and diplomatic relations were established. The base vehicle is the SV P615 LWB, which is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a maximum output of 615 ps.
The shock of the different colors of the front and rear
It was also announced that the special edition car was designed with inspiration from Japan culture, and the monotone exterior and interior were professed to be inspired by ink painting from the Muromachi period, one of the Japan painting techniques.
For the exterior color, in order to express the “blur” often used in ink painting, we have newly developed “Bespoke Light Gray”, which is as close to white as possible.
By using a slightly darker bespoke gray roof color, the entire body is shaded and monotonous while being monotone. In addition, by adopting bespoke light gray for the inserts of the aluminum wheels, we have succeeded in expressing the world view of sumi-e in a simpler yet deeper way.
The interior is also special like Bespoke, with “Cinder Gray” seats for the front seats and “Light Cloud” seats (Cinder Gray interior) for the rear seats. The color of the front and rear seats is different, which is quite special and has only been seen in the “1858 EDITION”, and the special combination is eye-catching.
The shoulders of the seat are embroidered with an original design inspired by the pattern of Japan kimonos, and the combination with the trim finisher and white shift control creates an exceptional interior space that combines luxury and purity at a high level.
Balmoral Castle, Scotland, the model name from which it is derived
ON THE OTHER HAND, THE RANGE ROVER SV BESPOKE BALMORAL EDITION IS LIMITED TO FIVE STANDARD WHEELBASE (SWB) MODELS. Its name comes from Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, owned by the British royal family. The first Range Rover in the 1980s also had an exterior color called Balmoral Green, but it was reinterpreted in a modern way. It has been newly developed as an exclusive color only for the Balmoral Edition, and has been unveiled for the first time as a new color with a more luxurious texture, bright and transparent, “Bespoke Green”.
While pursuing luxury, we are also environmentally conscious
In addition, the roof, mirror covers, and aluminum wheel inserts are combined with the aforementioned “Bespoke Gray” to express a discreet personality that is not too glamorous.
The interior is made of Ultrafabrics™, which emits less CO2 in the manufacturing process than leather, suggesting that the company is always environmentally conscious while pursuing luxury. Naturally, Ultrafabrics™ is also used for the seats, and by using the colors “Light Cloud” for the front and “Cinder Gray” for the rear, the color scheme is the exact opposite of the front and rear seats of the “1858 Edition”.
In addition, the satin white ceramic trim finisher, which is not available on the base model SV INTREPID, creates a cleaner and brighter atmosphere. Of course, the shoulder part of the seat is embroidered with the original design, just like the “1858 Edition”.
The two special limited edition models were specially produced exclusively in Japan using the SV BESPOKE service, a personalization program introduced in 2023 to further strengthen Range Rover, an exclusive and modern luxury brand.
There is no doubt that the exterior, interior content and specifications all surpass the Maybach GLS.
IN ADDITION, THE WORDS “SV BESPOKE 1858 EDITION” AND “SV BESPOKE BALMORAL EDITION” ARE ENGRAVED ON EACH TREAD PLATE, AND “1 OF 4” (“1858 EDITION”) and “1 OF 5” (“BALMORAL EDITION”) ARE ALSO INSCRIBED TO INDICATE THE LIMITED PRODUCTION VOLUME OF THIS SPECIFICATION. It reminds us that these two models are rare special limited edition cars.
