Chopard has launched a limited edition of its Japan of its popular Alpine Eagle watch. It was also announced that rugby player Keita Inagaki has been appointed as a new ambassador. The original movie was premiered at the National Stadium and a talk session was held.
The Alpine Eagle is a timepiece based on St. Moritz, invented by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the current co-president of Chopard, at the end of the 1970s. The rich nature of the Alps and the strength of the eagles that inhabit the area are sources of inspiration. The pattern on the dial is based on the glow of an eagle’s eye, and the shape of the bracelet is designed in the image of a rocky mountain area.
President Scheufele, who came to Japan for this event, said, “Actually, the country where the Alpine Eagle is most popular is Japan, and we want to express our gratitude to them, so we have decided to release a limited edition of the Japan edition of SHIKKOKU.” As the name suggests, the dial is black. The special design pays homage to Zen aesthetics and will be available in a limited edition of 100 bottles at Chopard boutiques and Alpine Eagle stores nationwide (2,156,000 yen including tax).
Inagaki, who was appointed as the new ambassador of Alpine Eagle, took the stage wearing black, which he said is his favorite color, and said, “I often wear a watch in practice and games. “The amount of time I can be a rugby player is not infinite and I want to see that precious time with this wonderful watch.”
He also mentioned his wife, model Takako Arai, whom he married last year. “It was my wife who changed my life, and I am grateful for the fact that she brought a lot of ideas to me when I was stiff and supported me even when I was busy. That’s why I want to support my busy wife if I have time.” In the original movie that was released, he showed off his majestic figure standing on top of the Alps.
