Love the blue from Berlin
At the beginning of the 18th century, the dye “Vero indigo” was discovered in Berlin, Germany. It is the blue that was loved by the leading ukiyo-e painters, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. It is named “Berlin indigo” from the name of the place where it was found, and it is called “belo indigo” for short. This blue pigment, which came from as far away as Europe, met with ukiyo-e techniques and became an innovative color that gave breadth and depth to the sky and waves depicted in ukiyo-e.
The new “Tangent Japan Blau” features a milky white dial reminiscent of pale clouds floating in ukiyo-e prints, beautiful bright blue indexes like the sky and waves depicted in ukiyo-e, and traditional German blue needles.
Embodying the philosophy of the Bauhaus-Nomos, which produced many innovative designs, the tangent beautifully embodies the fusion of German and Japan traditions.
The strap is a brown Horween cordovan with a deployment buckle that complements the blue. Precisely ticking the time behind this special dial in unisex 35 mm for both men and women is the most produced and most reliable hand-wound in-house Alpha movement produced in Glashütte.
