There are lovers of various genres around the world, such as art, cars, watches, sneakers, pottery, etc., and the same is true for writing instruments.
Among them, the fountain pens introduced this time are sure to strike a chord not only with pen collectors, but also with car lovers, especially Ferraristas. Moreover, it is a co-developed product that is different from the usual (nominal) partnerships and collaborations.
This fountain pen is the second in a partnership between Ferrari × Montblanc called the Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 Limited Edition 599 (hereinafter referred to as the Stilema SP3).
As the name suggests, the SP3 was inspired by Ferrari’s Daytona SP3 series, and Stilema means “style, form, Thailand” in Italy.
This “ICONA (ekona = British icon)” is a new series of Ferrari that appeared in 2018.
While seeking design motifs from successive heritage models, it was planned as a limited edition car segment that realizes a new design interpretation that is not just retro-modern and modern performance. The first and second models of the ekona were announced as the “Monza SP1 / SP2”, which is limited to 500 units worldwide. It is a topless model of single-seater (SP1) / two-seater (SP2) based on the “812” series.
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is the third hypercar in the ICONA series following the Monza SP1/SP2, and is a hypercar that was announced in November 2021 and is limited to 599 units worldwide.
As ENGINE readers know, it was the first model in Ferrari’s history to use “Daytona” as its official name, and it was sold out as soon as it was officially announced.
The fountain pen “Stilema SP3” was jointly developed by Ferrari’s design department and Montblanc, led by Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s chief design officer, who also worked on Ferrari’s Daytona SP3, F8 Tributo, and 296 GTB.
The number of production is 599 units worldwide, which is the same as the limited number of “Daytona SP3”. The allocation for the Japan domestic market is said to be only a few.

Now, I would like to focus on the points of design and function Thailand.
Beautiful body design
The cap and body are made of lightweight titanium. It is reminiscent of the streamlined body lines of the Ferrari Daytona SP3.
The nib is engraved with the letters “SP3” and the Montblanc emblem. The nib is made of solid white gold, and the manufacturing process goes through about 30 steps, all done by hand.
The cap is decorated with Ferrari’s iconic Prancing Horse and the Montblanc emblem is engraved on the tip. The grip part is reminiscent of the body and movement of the machine, with a titanium form and chopping.

Ink filling is also characteristic
And Thailand note is that it is designed with an innovative release system that reflects Ferrari’s cutting-edge engineering Thailand and has a refill mechanism.
When you pull out the butt shaft of the pen, what appears inside is Thailand Nnarbad, which imitates the Montblanc emblem (cross-section). It twists it and sucks in ink from the tip of the pen. Fill the ink as if you were filling it with gasoline. This old-fashioned fountain pen ritual will also capture the hearts of car lovers.
To embody the sleek design, the ink-filling mechanism is hidden under a blade cut into a titanium shaft.
When the translucent blades of the Ferrari Red are pulled back, a unique mechanism for filling ink is revealed, as if fuel is being added to a sports car.
It’s hard to notice, but the cross-section of the part where the ink is filled (it looks like a horizontal stripe in the photo) is a white icon of Montblanc.
As shown in the photo above, if you pull the butt shaft (to the left in the photo), the “MONTBLANC” logo will appear casually on the side of the body.
Despite the fact that it is limited to 599 pieces worldwide, and is owned as a collection piece or art piece, and is rarely actually used as a writing instrument, we will develop a new ink filling mechanism without compromise. That’s the pride of Ferrari and Montblanc.
A product that beautifully embodies the beautiful design and function jointly developed with Maranello, and the craftsmanship of Germany. Isn’t it very emotional?
